Kevin's New 7 In 7 Challenge

Kevin Sinfield to take on seventh ultra-marathon challenge in fight against MND...

Kevin Sinfield will once again take on another endurance challenge in support of the motor neurone disease (MND) community. The former rugby league star and his team, who have already raised more than £10 million through five previous challenges, will run seven ultra-marathons in seven days across seven regions of the UK and Republic of Ireland this December.

This year’s challenge, 7 in 7: Together, will take place from 1 to 7 December, continuing Sinfield’s tireless efforts to raise money and awareness for those affected by MND. As with previous events, each day will feature an Extra Mile section, where members of the MND community will join Sinfield to run one mile in solidarity.

The journey begins on Monday 1 December in East Anglia, with a run from Bury St Edmunds to Ipswich, dedicated to former Ipswich Town striker Marcus Stewart, who is living with MND. On 2 December, the team will travel to Cork to pay tribute to Charlie Bird, the late broadcaster, as well as remembering Paul Darbyshire, the former Warrington and Munster player who died from MND in 2011.

The route continues on 3 December in Swansea, before heading back to England for an ultra-marathon around the hills of Sheffield on 4 December. On 5 December, the team moves north to Cumbria, running from Workington to Whitehaven, where they are expected to receive a warm welcome from the rugby league community. The penultimate leg on 6 December will take place in Scotland, beginning at Carnoustie and finishing in Dundee, with the memory of the late Doddie Weir providing inspiration as ever.

The challenge concludes on 7 December with an emotional return to Leeds, where Sinfield will pay tribute to his close friend Rob Burrow, who passed away in 2024. The final run will start in North Yorkshire and end at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the challenge, Sinfield said: “We have committed to doing seven annual challenges, as most people know the number seven is special to us because it is the number Rob wore. With this penultimate challenge we wanted to continue that theme. The logistics around getting to each region in the timescale is part of our challenge but it is worth it when we receive such a warm welcome.”
