Back To Bella This November
A Glasgow classic, head south of the river this November for the Jimmy Irvine Bella 10K...
Just three month's until one of Glasgow's most popular races makes its return, so make sure you are one of those toeing the start line at the 2024 edition of the Jimmy Irvine Bella 10K on 10 November.
A regular sell-out on the Glasgow race calendar, the 10K takes in the Southside's splendid Bellahouston Park and is considered a great late autumn race with fantastic history and loyal fans. The event pays tribute to one of the Road Runners' founding members - Jimmy Irvine.
The course was redesigned in 2018 to make it as quick as possible and is run entirely on tarmac paths and the inner pavement along the park's boundary with Mosspark Boulevard.
Speaking about this year's race a spokesperson from Bellahouston Roadrunners said: "This will be the 13th edition of this popular event where we aim to make all runners feel very welcome. While we can't guarantee last year's blue skies and sunshine, you will receive a warm welcome and plenty of support and encouragement all along the course.
"It certainly isn't flat (nor is the park!) but it is traffic-free and offers a fast, downhill finish that will make you think you are flying."
Over 650 runners took part in 2023 with Cambuslang Harrier Alasdair Campbell winning the race in a fast 32:24. First female was Central AC's Jennifer Wetton who clocked 36:46. Fastest Bellahouston Road Runner was Tony Connelly who came fifth in a time of 33:11.
The Road Runners invite all runners and their families and supporters back to Craigton Primary School after the race for the post-race buffet, some post-race chat and the prize-giving. The generous post-race buffet is renowned, think homemade bakes and sandwiches lovingly prepared by club members.
