Running At Great Heights
Now is the perfect time to secure a place in one of the region’s most enjoyable and affordable trail running events...
Runners, hikers and trail adventurers are invited to take on the stunning landscapes of the Colne Valley at this year’s Heights Ultra Trail, returning on 6 September. The event will once again start and finish at Colne Valley High School in Linthwaite, Huddersfield and offers a choice of four distances to suit all levels of endurance and ambition.
Among the highlights is the HUT 10K, a scenic figure-of-eight course that winds through the local countryside and is fully marked for ease of navigation. Whether you’re looking for a new personal best or a memorable run in beautiful surroundings, this race promises an enjoyable challenge.
For those looking for something more demanding, the event also features a 27K Wessenden route across open moorland, a 50K Ramsden trail built for serious ultra-runners and long-distance walkers and the formidable 50-mile Scammonden course that tests even the most experienced endurance athletes.
This year’s event will also feature HUT Fest and Gala Day, a lively celebration of local culture and community spirit running alongside the races at Colne Valley High School. Families and supporters can look forward to a full day of entertainment, food, creativity and fun. Organisers are currently welcoming local stallholders, artists, face painters, balloon artists, kids’ entertainers and charities to be part of the festivities.
