Great Run were sorry not to see their 5K runners on the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside last weekend following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

They have been working flat-out on rescheduling the Great North 5K to an alternative date and are delighted to let you know that it has been confirmed as Friday 7 October. The event start time will now be earlier at 17:30 to ensure the event can take place in daylight.

Entries have also reopened for this fantastic Friday night event, so you can join the party atmosphere on Friday 7 October.

Great Run have also been working hard to reschedule the Junior and Mini event and are delighted to confirm that this will now take place on Saturday 8 October.

Run numbers, timetables, the unveiling of Tyney the Tortoise, a fantastic atmosphere, a brand new event village, food and drinks stalls, and of course, the medals and goody bags are all guaranteed.

The young runners absolutely deserve their moment in the spotlight and organisers can’t wait to see them take the Quayside by storm for a fantastic celebration of the next generation of runners.
