The long route goes through the Western Peak District and includes Axe Edge, Goyt Valley, Shining Tor, Lamaload Reservoir, Kettleshulme, Taxal Moor and Fernilee Dam, with a total ascent of 4000ft.
The short route also goes through the Western Peak District, going to Axe Edge and the Goyt Valley and returning via Fernilee Dam to Buxton, with 2000ft of ascent.
