Virtual Tinsel Trot medal

Chance to shine at the Virtual Tinsel Trot

Your chance to keep racing in the run up to Christmas

The Virtual Tinsel Trot 5K & 10K is a new event taking place from Friday 11 December to Tuesday 15 December and generous spot prizes are on offer along with a Christmas-themed medal. There are Christmas puddings amongst the prizes as an extra (and sweet) incentive to enter.

This is the second of two virtual events, the other the Virtual Cheddleton 10K and both are raising funds for Cancer Research UK. These are a positive way to end what has been a year like no other and one that we will be glad to see the back of. They aim to keep people focused and motivated as we count down to a ‘Covid Christmas’.

Participants run 5K or 10K on a route of their choosing and at a date and time that suits them. A flat route is acceptable but in the spirit of fairness entrants are asked not to run a downhill course. Runs are recorded and finish time and elevation submitted as proof of completion. Finishers receive a Christmas-themed medal and certificate in return. There are Christmas puddings for the victorious men’s and women’s teams and as spot prizes along with prizes courtesy of specialist retailer Running Bear.

Anyone wishing to see how they compare against others will be able to do so via live leader boards throughout the 5-day event.

As a reminder: from Thursday 5 November, England goes into a national lockdown for the next four weeks and unlimited outdoor exercise is one of the rules. You can run solo, with another member of your household or ‘bubble’ or one other person from a different household.
