Gateshead Trail 10K

A Trail With Speed At Its Heart

Be quick to secure yourself a spot at this year's Gateshead Trail 10K...

Entries have now reopened for the Gateshead Trail 10K, but you'll need to be quick as this popular multi-terrain event always sells out well in advance of race day.

This year the race will take place on 12 August at its usual location of Swalwell, Gateshead. Speaking about their event, organisers say: "This 10K is an introductory level trail running event that's both scenic and fast with PB potential. Added to this it has a brilliant 'Start Finish Village' that has food stalls, music and a great atmosphere."

The race is run on wide paths and trails and is ideal for first timers to high level club runners (there are some pretty impressive PB's). With only a few inclines the route is fast, and appeals to all running abilities.

The course has been designed with the enjoyment of runners at its heart. Traffic free with great scenery, the route snakes though the beautiful Derwent Walk Country Park. The fun route has a double loop at the top of the course which means you are never far from other runners and won't get left behind.

The fantastic course isn't the only selling point, there is also a designer medal for all finishers which doubles up as a bottle opener and those taking part can also expect a goodie bag and local gourmet food vans and barista coffee for a post-race treat.

Organisers are confident in the appeal of their event, saying: "The GT10 is a fantastic fun event that focuses on the full running experience - pre, post and during the race. Join the sell out field of 2000 runners who keep returning every year. We hope to see you on the start line."

Don't just take their word for it though, previous participants have this to say: "I'm a beginner runner but I enjoyed the Gateshead 10K Trail. It's hard but really scenic and that makes it enjoyable."

And "What a cracking race, one of the best in the North East. Very well organised, lovely route with a few little climbs to test you along the way. I'd definitely recommend it but you have to get your entry in early as it sells out."
