Set Your Alarm For Snake Lane 10
An extra 45 places for the sell-out Snake Lane 10 will be released this weekend...
If you failed to secure a place at 2023's sell-out Snake Lane 10, then you want to set an alarm for Saturday 3 December at 11am as that is when organisers will be releasing an extra 45 places for this ever-popular event!
Scheduled for 26 February the Snake Lane 10 enters its 31st year in 2023 and has many reasons for its enviable reputation. It is a fairly flat, fast 10 miler, ideal as part of spring marathon training or as an early target for your season. Organisers, Pocklington Runners, provide first class organisation, a scenic route, efficient volunteers and a goodie bag worthy of its own award. These reasons combined with a friendly atmosphere make the race a ‘must do’ event for any runner.
Held in Pocklington, it consists of left hand turns around this market town situated at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds then the all-important finish line sprint in the Market Place. As its name suggests, the course has a winding stretch that snakes its way through beautiful East Yorkshire countryside and there is always plenty of encouragement from pacers and marshals.
The 2023 race offers an extensive cash prize list including first male and female - £250 plus a further £250 if the course record is broken! Lewis Gamble-Thompson of New Marske Harriers Club won this year's race in a time of 50:32 while Helen Cross of York Knavesmire Harriers was first female in 01:01:04.
1800 places sold out in just over 6 hours at the end of October, so you have been warned... you need to be quick!
