Dyce Half Marathon

North East Half Is Back!

This north east half returns for 2025 with a scenic out-and-back challenge and family-friendly extras...

Metro Aberdeen Running Club has confirmed that the Dyce Half Marathon is back for 2025, taking place on 24 August following a one-year hiatus due to work on the Formartine and Buchan Way. The much-loved event will once again start and finish at Pitmedden Playing Field in Dyce, with organisers promising the same warm welcome and fast course, plus races for juniors and a few added extras for the adults.

The main event follows an out-and-back route along the Formartine and Buchan Way - a largely flat, traffic-free trail popular with runners and walkers alike. Runners will complete a clockwise loop of the playing field before joining the former railway line and heading north for around 6.5 miles to the turnaround point, before returning to finish with an anticlockwise loop.

As ever, Metro Aberdeen are keen to make race day fun for all the family. Free junior races will take place before the main event, with a 2-mile race for 14-16-year-olds, an 800m race for 11-13-year-olds, and a fun run for under 10s. All young runners will receive a memento for taking part.

In the half marathon, prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as to age group winners. All finishers over 18 will receive a complimentary can of Fierce Beer which has been donated by the Aberdeen-based brewery and there will also be a host of post-race snacks and bespoke mementos.

Organisers say: “We’re thrilled to be bringing the Dyce Half Marathon back for 2025 after last year’s unavoidable cancellation. The date is slightly later than usual due to some calendar clashes, but the route is clear, and we’re good to go.”
