In memory of Pennine Fell Runner Darren Holloway, this race is based on the original Buttermere Horseshoe. The route is flagged to the fells at Lanthwaite Green, but once on the tops there is much route choice between checkpoints. GPS is not allowed for navigation and the route is not flagged on the fells.
As per FRA rules poles are not allowed to be used in the race.
