The race begins next to the perimeter fence of Monkton Business Park. The route follows the Bowes Railway Path in the direction of Wardley and then turns right onto parkland behind the Cock Crow Inn, passes Gabs Carp Lake, before finishing back at the race start. The route of the race is free of traffic, being entirely on footpaths and grass land. Due to the terrain the race is not suitable for wheelchair competitors.
