The Buxton Carnival 4 is an accurately measured 4 Mile road race organised by Buxton Athletic Club and held as part of the annual Buxton Carnival. Starting just ahead of the carnival procession, the race follows the streets of Buxton before finishing in the town's historic Market Place, creating a unique atmosphere with large crowds lining the route.
The course starts on Station Road and follows a fast road circuit through the town before returning to a memorable finish in the heart of the carnival celebrations. Open to runners aged 16 and over, the event is held under UK Athletics rules and attracts club runners and recreational athletes alike, with cash prizes and age category awards available.
The race is dedicated to the memory of former Buxton AC junior Thomas Theyer, with funds supporting the Thomas Theyer Foundation. Combining a fast accurately measured course, outstanding community support and the vibrant atmosphere of Buxton Carnival Day, the Buxton Carnival 4 has become one of Derbyshire's most distinctive summer road races.
