Celebrate Year End At Buntingford
Take in the best of Buntingford in this classic 10-miler...
It's just into autumn, but with a 750 race limit, it might be timely to tell you about the Buntingford Year End 10 on Sunday, 28th December 2025. This classic 10-mile race from Freman College promises to "take in the best of Buntingford and the surrounding area."
Last year, just over 500 runners contested the event on an undulating, rural route that has 166 metres of ascent. The winners in 2024 were Alex Milne (Hercules Wimbledon AC, 51:29) and Tabitha Woodhouse (Herts Phoenix AC, 58:45) as 525 finished in 2:27:49, inside the official cut-off time of two and a half hours.
This year's race, hosted by Royston Runners, will again incorporate the Hertfordshire Veterans Road Running County Championships, so expect some quality performances from the more seasoned athletes in the pack!
Royston Runners was formed in November 1985 and is based at Heath Sports Club in Royston. The Buntingford 10 was adopted as the club's flagship event in its founding year. Club membership has grown to more than 200 today, and the Chas Avis Harvest Trail Half and Quarter Marathon was added to the calendar and last held on Sunday, 14th September 2025.
In 2025, the Club celebrated its 40th birthday with social events, including a Wimpole parkrun takeover and a Summer Party. The 2025 Buntingford End of Year 10 medal is a specially struck 40th-anniversary collectors' item.
At the time of going to press, less than 300 places were available, so if you are looking for a last chance to set a PB at the traditional 10-mile distance this year, you know what to do...
Royston Runners are also keen to hear from anyone who can volunteer/marshal at the event. If you can offer your support, please email: buntingford10@roystonrunners.co.uk
