Shropshire event returns in 2021 and with a new headline sponsor

The Hatfields Shrewsbury Running Festival invites people to join them in 2021 for a weekend out on the town. This two-day event takes place on Saturday 27 March and Sunday 28 March and the choice of distances means there is a race for everyone irrespective of age or ability. The options are 10K, 5K, 2K Relay, 1 Mile TT and the Shrewsability Run for disabled participants.

With a ‘thank you’ to Mercedes-Benz of Shrewsbury for all their support, organisers Ultimate Fitness were keen to find a new sponsor for 2021. On the 17 December they were pleased to announce that Hatfields Shrewsbury was the title sponsor. It is all looking positive for this event that will adhere to Covid-19 guidelines (Shropshire is currently in Tier 2) whilst delivering an enjoyable two days of running in the attractive medieval town.

The 5K, 2K Team Relay and 1 Mile TT are scheduled for the Saturday followed by the 10K and Shrewsability Run on the Sunday.

The 10K is a popular race that starts at Quarry Park and takes runners on a tour around the town. There are hills in the first couple of miles to get the heart rate up before settling into a rhythm as the route continues through residential areas and across English Bridge before heading through the grounds of Shrewsbury School where Charles Darwin was once a pupil. Then back towards the town centre and a sprint finish in Quarry Park.

There is a beautifully designed technical T-shirt and bespoke medal for finishers in the 10K with a printed buff for those in the 5K.
